The Chicago Bears Brandon Meriweather

The Chicago Bears Brandon Meriweather: The New England Patriots released two time Pro Bowl safety Brandon Meriweather to NFL teams cut due yesterday led him to become a free agent. The movement seemed to be a surprise to those of age Meriweather considering outside (27) and skills [two consecutive Pro Bowl], but those of New England is not totally surprised by it. Since Meriweather is a good player and he played for the Patriots, many concluded that the Kansas City Chiefs would be interested in him. Maybe they were, maybe they were not, but it will not sign with the Chiefs. Chicago Bears announced that they Meriweather locked with a one year contract. I expected him to sign a one year contract. It is a young player, so his best shot would be to sign a one year contract to play well this year and hope to hit the open market in March next year as the best security possible. The leaders could have used him to create a good depth, but it would be a role player (i.e. not pay the starter), so I'm not sure KC was the best.
