Today News Tan Kin Lian: Presidential hopeful Tan Kin Lian said on Thursday morning that he can be independent if elective, and that he's not associated with the ruling folks Action company policies. 'I can be independent. I've ne'er been a minister or a member of parliament. I'm not associated with the past policies of the PAP,' he said. He said if elected president, he hoped to present views that are alternative and different to the government, but stressed that he would still act with the government. The other 2 contenders for the presidency are former MP Dr Tan Cheng Bock and former deputy prime minister Dr Tony Tan. Mr Tan Kin Lian was speaking at a press conference on Thursday morning.
